Head of Corporate Affairs:
- Responsible for establishing and leading a newly established Corporate Affairs Team, bringing together the Communications and Public Affairs Teams into one fully integrated function that strengthens our Play to Win Strategy.
- Develop the team, strategic approach and programme of activity to ensure that the team works together to directly support the implementation of our Play to Win Strategy. This will include providing communications and public affairs support to corporate functions and GBUs, shaping our external environment to support sustainable growth, ensuring we all speak with One Sanofi Voice, managing issues to protect our licence to operate and enhancing our industry leadership around key platforms such as DE&I and sustainability .
- Responsible for providing strategic communications, public affairs and issues management advice to Country Council and other key Senior Leaders and working in partnership with Global Corporate Affairs.
Develops and leads as applicable, a high performing Corporate Affairs Team that directly supports our Play to Win Strategy
- Defines, develops and oversees a strategic Corporate Affairs Plan and individual work programmes to directly support the company goals as set out in the Global Corporate Affairs Plan and the Country Play to Win Strategy.
- Leads a high performing and thriving team that appropriately rewards success, supports career development, leads on DE&I and ensures appropriate succession planning.
- Performance manages the team through setting and reviewing priorities, providing appropriate and timely feedback about performance and coaching team members to help them to achieve their goals.
- Supports the professional and career development of the team by identifying the skills and competencies that employees need for their current and prospective roles and providing opportunities to learn and develop.
- Builds a motivated and engaged team through the use of formal and informal recognition, regular communications and the encouragement of cooperation between individuals and teams.
- Develops, manages and monitors a responsible budget process for the Corporate Affairs Team that ensures appropriate resourcing of priority activities
- Creates an integrated and synergistic approach to communication, public affairs activities and relevant image building activities to enforce One Sanofi inside and outside.
Develops and leads effective corporate and brand communications that raise visibility around Sanofi vision and offering in the country, to increase the company’s brand equity and enhance the organisation’s profile in key therapy areas.
- Oversees the country communication in coordination with corporate media relations.
- Oversees the country employee engagement to ensure that our people are fully engaged with Play to Win priority initiatives.
- Oversees relations with journalists to build long term trust-based relationships including organisation of interviews for the Country Lead.
- Supports Corporate Media Relations in managing top tier country’s media and advises on drafting, distribution and impact on group image or share price of press releases in partnership with the departments concerned.
- Analyses the groups’ image and share of voice in the media and shares analysis with MCO and at group level to shape future activities.
- Develops and implements a strong, positive new flows about business initiatives externally and internally.
- Supports roll-out of the Sanofi Brand and establishes industry leadership around priority initiatives relating to CSR, DE&I and sustainability.
- Proactively leads on communications strategy to generate strong impact across brands, to consolidate and enhance their position, and shape and secure the potential of products within the portfolio.
- Supports with the culture change initiatives that help our employees to better engage with our Play to Win behaviours.
Plays a leading role as applicable, in Issues / Crisis Management for the country
- Plays a leading role in the Country Crisis Team, including training Crisis Team members on how to effectively handle crisis situations.
- Works with the Crisis Team to effectively manage all issues that could
- meaningfully impact on our reputation, business operations or financial performance.
- Is the lead contact person for guidance and liaison with the media both proactively and reactively for high profile issues and crisis situations and leads our internal and external communications response.
Oversees our high-level external engagement with government and policy community
- Keeps abreast of the external environment and understands how Sanofi is positioned and perceived externally and the actions we need to take to support our Play to Win strategy.
- Positions Sanofi as an industry leader in the country, lobbying for a better ecosystem to support sustainable growth of life sciences industry.
- Operates at a senior level representing the interests of Sanofi to government ministers and officials, national policy decision makers, senior executives of trade associations, patient and professional organisations.
- Oversees the development of a live stakeholder map of priority Government and policy influencers in the country and leads the implementation of a contact programme to develop trusted relationships with these individuals.
- Works across the business to identify the cross-cutting policy priorities for the country’s business and ensure alignment of external messaging and public affairs activity. Seeks to secure improvements to pricing and access regulation, as well as new routes to market that are in line with business needs.
- Oversees our engagement with relevant country’s patient organisations to support country’s business priorities and to ensure alignment with global activities.
Provides strategic advice to Senior Leaders and establishes effective relationships across the business to ensure that communications and government affairs are understood and integrated across functional and organisational boundaries
- Is a key strategic advisor on communications and public affairs matters for the Country Council and Senior Leaders
- Inputs to strategic business planning process for the country
- Contributes to the Global Corporate Affairs Strategy by providing recommendations and inputs as it relates to the country.
- Promotes understanding and buy in regarding the strategic direction of the company among all the relevant stakeholders.
- Upskills Country Council on effective communication and profile-raising opportunities.
- Develops effective senior-level relationships across the business and with Global Corporate Affairs.
Management of Resources
- Accurately raises Purchase Requisitions with information provided by requestor and ensures such information is correct.
- Updates systems in a timely way to reflect the current status of purchase orders and any deliveries of goods and services.
- Attends to invoice system requests and queries quickly and efficiently.

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS
- Experience of successfully leading a Corporate Affairs organisation to deliver towards the company strategy
- Broad based knowledge of the Sanofi product portfolio, strategy, company and services
- Comprehensive understanding of the country’s legislation and codes of practice
- A robust knowledge of communications field including internal and external communications, PR brand communications and media relations
- A robust knowledge of the country’s political and policy environment
- Ability to leverage Corporate Affairs strategy to gain a competitive advantage and establish a culture of strong employee engagement
- Extensive media training and experience in Pharma sector
- Productive network with key media, government, policy and industry stakeholders and suppliers
- Demonstrated ability to influence relationships and leverage knowledge internally across a matrix structure to drive collaboration and optimise opportunities to achieve shared goals.
- Experience of leading, motivating and developing a team.
- Success in stakeholder management
