Mō tēnei tūranga | About this role
As part of the National Property Services team in Te Pou Hanganga Matihiko | Infrastructure & Digital, you will contribute to the Ministry's commitment to the Treaty settlement work programme led by the Office for Crown Maori Relations (OCMR) - Te Arawhiti.
Reporting to the Manager Treaty Settlements, you will provide essential administrative, records and project management and technical land investigation support for the team.
The Coordinator Treaty is integral to the day-to-day operations of the Treaty Settlements team. Key responsibilities of the role include:
- Managing and maintaining the team's extensive historical and contemporary filing system to ensure that information is catalogued and accessible for the team's use on a daily basis.
- Maintaining oversight of timeframes and milestones across the Treaty settlements work programme to ensure the team is on-track.
- Collating information and data for monthly reports and dashboards.
- Organising regular meetings (includes agendas and minute taking) with external stakeholders, managing progress and deadlines for commissioned contract work and reconciling invoices.
- Working with the team to find ways of working better or more efficiently and putting those changes in place.
Salary range: $58,079- $70,096 per annum + 3% kiwi saver. The successful candidate will be appointed at a salary which reflects individual skills and experience.

To be successful in the role, you will have exceptional organisational and administrative skills and the ability to understand and anticipate the team's needs in carrying out our daily tasks. You will be the team's first point of contact, managing queries and requests for information and advice referred to the team.
You will demonstrate knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an understanding of Te Ao Māori and promote tikanga and Te Reo Māori. You will also have knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an appreciation of te Tiriti o Waitangi (the Treaty of Waitangi) as it applies in the public sector.
You will also demonstrate:
- Proven experience and skills in developing and implementing administrative business process changes
- Strong written and verbal communications skills
- Excellent management of multiple streams of work and competing deadlines.
- A bonus would be some experience and skills in using land investigation tools and applications
- A unique insight into the Crown's role in leading treaty settlement negotiations with iwi,
- Gaining an understanding of Te Āo Maori perspectives and Treaty of Waitangi principles
- Developing your understanding of ‘machinery of government' protocols and practices
- Developing your skills and experience in developing and implementing business process changes
- Building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
At Te Tāhuhu o te Mātauranga, we work to provide services and support nationally, regionally and locally to the education sector, and in some cases, directly to ākonga and whanau. To better deliver on this, we are currently undergoing an organisational design change. The transition phase to improve the way we deliver our purpose will be complete in 2023.
